Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Opare Addo has warned supporters of the club not to disrespect majority shareholder of the club, Togbe Afede XIV.

Supporters of the club are believed to be furious over the performance of the team in recent years and are calling for a new direction ahead of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Phobians looked rejuvenated under Scottish trainer, Frank Nuttall who steered the club to the 3rd position in the just ended Ghana Premier League but lost the MTN FA Cup to their archrivals Asante Kotoko by a 3:1 goal margin at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Speaking to Class Sports in an interview on Wednesday, November 29, he said, “In our own villages we respect our chiefs so why have you decided not to respect another chief from another town? That is not the nature of an African especially a Ghanaian.

“We were made to respect every elderly person. So what has changed so much that you should be able to hit and hit at a chief who has done nothing wrong. The insults are not fair. He listens to everybody and he loves Hearts of Oak. He has a vision and he believes the club will move from its current state. Opare further charged fans to support Togbe Afede in order not to jeopardize Togbe’s good intentions for the club.

“For me, I think that rather than engaging in something that is not necessary, let us rather channel our efforts [into] pushing him so that he will have that peaceful mind to make sure that he develops Hearts of Oak. If the Pobiman project is successful, which I know very soon it will, what are we going to say? We need to push him because what he is doing now, how many individuals will sit back and pump money into the club? Let’s help support him and I know things will change,” he said.
